OIL OF JOY

I’m about to give you two verses that will change your life. The first is in the Pslams, where David is talking about Jesus. The second is in John, where Jesus is talking to his disciples, and is true for all of us who accept the gift of salvation and walk in relationship with Him.

“God has anointed you [Jesus], pouring out the oil of joy on you, more than anyone else!” Pslam 45:7

“I have told you these things, so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow!” John 15:11

Did you catch that? God anointed Jesus with a joy that far surpasses any other. And then… this is where it really gets life changing… Jesus passes on his joy to us, so that we can be filled with that same joy!

You may wonder, how to access this joy. I encourage you to read John 14 & 15. The verse says “I have told you these things”, referencing, what he was talking about earlier in chapter 15 and chapter 14. While your reading the word, ask the Holy Spirit for understanding, he gives generously!

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.” James 1:22-25

This has been a game changer for me. I have allowed lies to depress me and my environment to consume me for too long. God has encouraged me in this truth and now I am covered in the oil of joy, setting the atmosphere in my life! I pray the same for you!
