Take me to lower ground
I give up this high place of conceit
A place among those ordinary souls I never wanted to be
You, glorious and worthy of all conceit and praise chose a place among us
Yet I who truly belong amongst the rest elevated myself in pride
But, like a seed begging to fruit
I too sought glory before my time
And now…
I despise the glory
I don’t want it
It doesn’t suit me here
It all feels wrong
It’s supposed to be yours
So I ask humbly, take me low with you Jesus
To the place where you left your throne to save us
Show me that Heart
Teach me the Way
I give up my pride
Let this be the day,
to myself,
I finally die
